Have you ever tried to be inside an ukay-ukay (thrift) shop with all the secondhand dresses, shirts, pants, and whatnot? If you still haven't tried, and you are planning to actually enter that ukay shop near you (plus, googling things for your perfect first time, haha), here are some of the things that you might want to consider for an ukay-ukay shop before wearing that killer stilettos.

1. Don't wear your best dress ever! (Even if you're crush is going to be with you)

OMG. You're going to an ukay shop for the first time and your going to be with your ultimate long time crush? Eewee!

Alright. Kidding aside, I think you don't want to be inside an ukay shop with your very pretty dress, high heeled shoes, and super thick make up. First, how can you bargain if they know you have the money to buy that best dress ever? Ates and Kuyas will also think that you are a richie-rich kid. And there is a big possibility that some may even higher their price especially for you.

Second, that is very inappropriate. I can't imagine myself going in an ukay-ukay shop with this dress on the right.

3. Tag along a friend

I know it is your first and you are not used to halukay. Might as well tag friend (of course the one who knows and has the confidence to halukay) who can help you boost your morale in checking this and that. Haha. You know it's always fun when doing things with somebody.

4. Don't be too maarte, girlfriend.

Okay, so your ukay friend is with you now. And you keep on tagging her because the smell is not that pleasing (for those who are freuent in ukay shops, you know this smell) to your nose. You want to stay and check, but it's really eewee for you.

What's worse is if your voice is so loud that everyone in the room is looking at you already with your eewee face. Please, stop. Go out, take a deep breath. Maybe because it is your first time that' why you responded like that? Try to enter again and if this time you really can't take it, go home.

Or maybe you're complaining that each and every shirt you check is dirty. I think your friend needs to teach you Ukay-ukay 101.

Bottomline: You know it's ukay-ukay, secondhand. Set your expectations that these will show signs of usage.
